Lecturer, School of Education (Creative arts and writing; Education; Language, communication and culture)

Cairns. Australia

My name is Nadia Mead and I am a Lecturer in Education with CQUniversity, Cairns. An educator since 1997, my career has spanned primary and secondary teaching in England and secondary and tertiary teaching in Australia. I was a Head of Department and a Deputy Principal for Education Queensland. In 2019, I joined CQU where I teach pre-service teachers in the undergraduate and postgraduate programs. I also supervise Research Students in Education and in Creative Writing. As a researcher, my areas of interest include the identity, experience and wellbeing of teachers; research that restores marginalised voices; humour in academia; and the wellbeing potential of creative writing. I have published in the areas of autoethnography; using fictional narratives as part of educational research; and the creative writing process. I am interested in collaborating with researchers who are passionate about storytelling in academic and industry settings.
