Once upon a time, a group of academics, teachers and independent consultants got together at Bristol University in the United Kingdom, to talk about the power of stories in teaching. Though the group was made up of people from many different countries and cultures, it was clear they shared a belief in the universality of narrative as a facilitator of learning. To demonstrate this conviction, 17 members of the group put their views into a collection of reflections, theoretical arguments, pedagogical investigations and academic opinions, edited together by Sheila Trahar, herself a committed practitioner researcher from the University of Bristol. With a foreword by Ruth Hayhoe, a Professor of education based at the Ontario Institute for Education, the resulting compilation of essays and case studies offers a series of practical insights designed to illuminate the potentiality of narrative as a tool in the field of international pedagogy.Kerslake, P 2010, 'And thereby hangs a tale ...' review of Narrative research on learning: Comparative and international perspectives by Sheila Trahar (ed.), Australian Universities' Review, vol. 52, no. 2, pp. 89-90, http://issuu.com/nteu/docs/aur_52-02TBA Research Grant.Copyright 2010 NTEU.en-ausTrahar, Sheila.Narrative research on learning : comparative and international perspectivesCriticism and interpretation.BooksReviews.Applied research.ANZSRC (2008) : Type of Activity (TOA)anzsrctoa930202 Teacher and Instructor Development.ANZSRC (2008) : Socio-economic objective (SEO)anzsrcseo130103 Higher Education.ANZSRC (2008) : Fields of Research (FOR)anzsrcforEducation --Narrative --Research --International --ComparativeJournal Article.Book ReviewlocalACQUIRECollectionCentral Queensland University.Learning and Teaching Education Research Centre (LTERC)QCQUCentral Queensland University.Learning and Teaching Education Research Centre (LTERC)Australian universities' review.Australia : NTEU, 2010.Vol. 52, no. 2 (November 2010), p. 89-902 pages52:2<89Non-refereed0818-8068ACQUIRE [electronic resource] : Central Queensland University Institutional Repository.Full-text options.http://hdl.cqu.edu.au/10018/9174293 Published version. Please use this identifier to link to this item u http://issuu.com/nteu/docs/aur_53-02
