thesis
posted on 2017-12-06, 00:00 authored by N Noorudheen
The task of maintaining the rail track and the wayside infrastructure is one of the most hazardous jobs in the rail industry. The track workers are in constant danger of being hit by a running train or other track machinery. The impact of such an accident is very serious and often leads to a fatality. The rail industry in Australia and worldwide are aware of the risk involved with such works and have taken safety precautions and protection methods to minimise and manage this risk. However accidents still occur and track worker fatalities and injuries are a major concern for the Australian rail industry.
