"This research has addressed a reform factor in Queensland secondary public schools that challenges widespread traditional patterns of how such schools operate. The research provides Queensland data and results on a structural timetable reform initiative that currently is only trialled or used by a small percentage of secondary public or private schools in the State. This initiative is the organisation of the school day into distinct split-shifts. This reform factor is related to the impact that facilities and facility issues have on teaching and learning. Not only does this research make an original contribution to knowledge and provide valuable data for policy makers, but it can also be used to inform practical, on-the-ground reform in schools. Currently for schools interested in challenging traditional approaches to the school day by adopting this reform, searches reveal a dearth of Australian research." -- abstract
