Workforce analytics is a human resources management tool that represents the application of social science research methods to work-related data, allowing company leaders to optimise human resources planning and utilisation. Despite the potential that workforce analytics has to enhance the remote workforce management, the current literature on workforce analytics tends to focus on the benefits of workforce analytics in traditional work environments. By critically reviewing the literature on workforce analytics and remote working, this study highlights knowledge gaps associated with application of workforce analytics in remote working contexts. The findings illustrated that workforce analytics can play an important role in facilitating remote workforce management, including promoting employee engagement, facilitating effective communication, and increasing productivity, and thus an effective approach to addressing remote working challenges. This research made several contributions to the theory of human resources management and has important implications for practice and policy planning. Future research directions and opportunities for extending the study of workforce analytics in the context of remote workforce management are also discussed.
