Developing and identifying the value of care in adolescents
This research project investigates the identification, and the development of the value of care in adolescents. This research project is a phenomenological inquiry which utilises semi-structured interviews to gather data in regard to the value of care. The aim of this research project is to develop a model for use by independent Christian Schools to develop the value of care in students, and to evaluate the degree to which they have successfully achieved the development of the value of care, in students. The research sample consisted of twelve participants from six participant groups. These included teachers, police, community workers, youth workers, social workers and parents. The results concluded that schools can make a significant contribution to the development of the value of care in students. Areas schools can focus on to maximise the possibility of the value of care being developed by students were identified. A set of core components of the value of care were identified and a model for schools to use to identify the value of care was developed.
