Beyond Karpin: Linking education and leadership
This practicum is about change, business, relationships, education and leadership. Beyond Karpin Linking Education & Leadership provides an analysis of international literature on leadership, The Karpin Report (1995) and research conducted in the Northern Territory of Australia.
Whilst reading this practicum you will be exposed to concepts you may not have previously encountered, statistics you may not agree with and ideas that propose what can be done immediately for the development of effective leadership.
The writings question culture and cultural diversity, leadership styles and application and the appropriateness of practices currently applied. The practicum weaves threads of leadership and management with threads of learning, education and knowledge, a thinking culture and the knowledge industry. It addresses the contemporary issues of culture and gender, research approaches and difficulties as well as leadership styles and practices.
The practicum is based on literature reviews, the analyses of other researchers findings as well as quantitative research conducted.
Definitions are questioned by asking have you heard of derailment, what is western or westemised, what is culture, do these elements influence education and leadership: if so how?
In the concluding chapter recommendations are made that will provide tangable immediate actions that can be undertaken by educators and trainers that will contribute to ensuring Australian leaders are practicing at international standards.
