An investigation of the existing mathematics component in tertiary business courses in Australia, and how it relates to the current needs of employer and professional groups in Australia
This thesis investigates the level of association between the users of business mathematics and those who design core service mathematics courses for undergraduate business students. It explores the supportive role of mathematics components in the business degree and makes the connection between this role and the role of mathematics in business. The thesis adds to a small but growing body of
literature which raises questions on issues such as the use of mathematics in the workplace by undergraduate business students, reasons for course content and presentation, and current issues in teaching and learning mathematics.
