A process for the conversion of Calophyllum inophyllum linn oil to Calophyllum oil methyl ester (COME) comprising pre-treatment with toluene to form 5 a partially purified oil; saponification of the resulting oil with methanolic potassium hydroxide solution followed by treatment with sulphuric acid; and performing an isolation procedure including treatment with acetone.
