The Fitzroy catchment in Central populated region. This, the largest east coast Australian catchment, consists of several sub-basins including the Connors, Isaac, Nogoa, Mackenzie, Comet and Dawson.Rainfall and streamflows in the region are highly variable with the mean annual discharge of the Fitzroy River past Rockhampton into the southern lagoon the Great Barrier Reef being about 5 million megalitres (ML).
