This report is the first output of a study focused on assessing the impact of broadband on economic development in regional communities in Queensland. This stage of the study is focused on a desk-top review of available knowledge and other studies that are relevant to an understanding of how the introduction and use of broadband technologies might impact on businesses and communities in Queensland regions. The report is structured around three levels of studies relating to: • the broad economic impact of broadband on employment and economic growth; • the impact of broadband on the efficiency and operations of individual businesses; and • the economic impact of broadband on regions and communities.
