"It may be useful to begin this paper by saying something about curriculum leadership...For the purpose of curriculum change, it is necessary to encourage and cultivate the political and intellectual competencies of curriculum leaders. To begin with, curriculum leaders need a serious commitment to democratic curriculum changes, informed by a concern about social injustice and a humble disposition towards redressing peoples' marginalisation and exploitation...Curriculum leaders need vision and practices that are inclusive in scope, grounded in a concern for the marginalised and which build alliances across social differences"--p. 3.
