The NSW Government’s ageing strategy Towards 2030: Planning for our Changing Population², a whole of NSW Government strategy to actively plan for the ageing of the population, emphasises appropriate housing, community and proximity to services as central to people’s ability to maintain quality of life and continue living in their communities as they grow older. This report provides an overview of the findings of the Housing and Independent Living (HAIL) project, undertaken by researchers at the University of Newcastle, the University of Sydney and the SAX Institute, and funded by the Ageing Disability and Home Care, in the NSW Department of Human Services.
