Using social media in nursing education: An emerging teaching tool

Nursing students today are both confident and adept in using social media in their daily lives (Gallo, 2011; Hansen & Erdley, 2009). Whilst they have well developed technology skills, nursing students also need to develop knowledge and expertise in patient care and evidence based practice as well as critical thinking and clinical reasoning skills (Cerullo & Cruz, 2010).
