Acute coronary syndrome (ACS) is one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide (World Health Organization 2014) and almost half of the mortality associated with ACS in the Middle East occurs in the pre-hospital setting. Previous studies have indicated that Middle Eastern populations utilise EMS less in ACS, have higher rates of co-morbidity, and are younger.
