To AI or not to AI: That is the question in mental health nurse recruitment

Talent acquisition is a critical and traditionally time-consuming component of health service management. The ability to predict and engineer an ideal workforce promises unparalleled gains in corporate efficiency and reputation (Nyathani, 2022), including supporting healthcare staff to manage a demanding work environment. Such predictions and engineering can be achieved by utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) programs. Likewise, those submitting applications for vacant positions can use generative AI to develop or improve their resumés and cover letters. In this column, we consider the benefits and challenges of navigating AI-supported recruitment and how recent developments in AI could potentially impact the mental health nursing workforce.
