Physical activity improves general health and well-being and reduces the risk of chronic disease and mental
illness.1 Currently, 55% of Australians are considered
active; however, this has increased from 43% in
2011–2012.2 There is some evidence that people in
remote areas of Australia are less active than people
in more urban areas;3 however, it is unknown whether
this is changing over time in Queensland’s population.
