Structured Islamic finance options for the resources sector
The article examines how Islamic funds are used for financing projects in the resources sector. It explains investment constraints and advantages under the Shariáh law and the suitability of Islamic financing for projects that do not merit intrusions from conventional banks. The article notes that Shariáh-compliant financing can be applied to large industrial projects that allow for cash flow projections and the retention of title to the assets in favor of Islamic lenders.
