Research in rural settings, research for rural settings

There is a growing body of evidence that clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) are not readily accessible in a form that is usable by nurses and that the health care industry is not getting value from CPGs (Chan, 2012; Productivity Commission, 2015; Saunders and Vehvilainen- Julkunen, 2016). A recent review published in IJNS reported that while nurses have positive attitudes to evidence based practice (EBP), findings are often not delivered in a form that is useable or context specific (Saunders and Vehvilainen-Julkunen, 2016). Clinical staff in regional and rural settings experience role diffusion and are limited in their opportunity to become specialists in any one particular clinical area.
