Remediation of municipal landfills using phytocapping technology

The cost effectiveness of remediating municipal landfills via phytocapping was examined using a collative and desktop research approach. Real-life case studies and documented facts and figures were collated and analysed. The costs associated with constructing phytocaps and clay caps were compared. Based on this information it is concluded that the phytocaps cost at least 50% less than the clay caps, and they also offer additional community and environmental benefits.
