Mission for the next triennium

Welcome to the first issue of Australasian Journal on Ageing (AJA) for 2012. Some news first. I have just accepted another three-year term as AJA Editor in Chief, as I still have some aspirations for AJA that I would like to achieve. One of those is to bring our New Zealand colleagues much more on board,to live up to the ‘Australasian’ in our journal title. In 2011,11% of submissions were from New Zealand. I’d like to see that increase to at least 20% in the next three years. In 2011,50% of submissions were from Australia, 20% were from Asia, and 19% from other regions of the world, including Europe, the Middle East and the Americas. So, we are a truly internationalised journal, although our focus remains on providing a quality outlet on ageing research for our region.
