Major shift in national health policy towards poliomyelitis in Pakistan reaps rewards

Poliomyelitis has in recent decades been well controlled by vaccination worldwide. In Pakistan polio eradication was never achieved. Clinical cases of polio recently increased, to which the Pakistan government implemented a radical new polio eradication plan. In the last two years, polio-associated morbidity has reduced considerably. Signs are cautiously positive for future elimination of polio from Pakistan.
