There are many ligamentous structures of the knee, particularly the posterior knee, which can often be underappreciated. Injuries to these ligaments are underreported and may not be clinically obvious. Inadequate treatment and management of these injuries can lead to chronic pain and disability. Incorporation of assessment of these ligaments into a sonographic scan protocol of the knee may aid diagnosis of such injuries and improve patient outcomes. The anatomy and sonographic demonstration of these ligaments will be discussed.
