An evolutionary alternative to fixed and positivist approaches to cross-cultural education, a spiritual philosophical approach called ‘wandering songlines’ may offer some relief. The paradigm question needs to be asked first to liberate, historicize and naturalize hegemonic ideologies that focus on final answers or solutions, to then shift the attention towards resonating the songs that live inside people of all cultures. The idea is to give space to understanding and working with the dynamics in cross-cultural education whilst ‘moving with’ a global landscape that is always localised but in a global and planetary/cosmic context. The ways in which to navigate the landscape imply the capacity to attune to the ‘synthetic moment’ which emerges in a palimpsest of dynamic flows and the Self-in-Relationship as the locus of control. On a daily basis we walk and ‘sing’ two tracks and surfs two types of waves at the same time. We are both place- and time-bound but also timeless visitors to a landscape, attuned to particular vibrations and in a constant state of rising, moving on and passing away.
