Editorial: The Australasian Journal on Ageing (AJA) follows the publication ethics guidelines recommended by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) [1]. COPE was established in1997 by a group of UK medical journal editors and has grown to over 9000 members worldwide, encompassing all academic fields. While members are mostly editors of academic journals, membership is open to anyone interested in publication ethics. COPE specifically provides advice to editors and publishers about how to manage publication misconduct. Wiley-Blackwell is particularly committed to best practice in publication ethics [2]. As a Wiley-Blackwell publication, AJA is a member of COPE and, during 2009 to 2011, underwent a review of ethical procedures specificallyto ensure journal compliance with the COPE guidelines.
