We reviewed carefully several publications about self-immolation, a tragic suicide method used by young women that is prevalent in many countries based on dominant symbols, culture, civilization, and emulations. The majority ofthe scientists aimed to study the prevalence and causes of mortality of burns or self-immolation. This controversy prompted us to get an answer to the following question: What should we do to prevent this kind of horrible suicide method? Here, we would like to share some of the results of a qualitative analysis conducted in the burn department of the Imam Khomeini Teaching Hospital of Urmia, a referral center in Iran's West Azarbaijan province.
