Intellectual property, access to medicines and universal health coverage through a health rights lens

The article argues that human rights law can be considered in formulating intellectual property laws and policies that protect public health and promote universal health coverage objectives. The article takes the view that the use of health rights can play a significant role in ensuring that national intellectual property laws are implemented in a way that facilitates the actualisation of universal health coverage.
