A key moment in Australian education history has arrived. For the first time Australian governments have agreed to have a national curriculum for schools from K-12 from 2011 on. What that might look like, particularly for Geography, is the focus of our discussion. What this means for geography to be ‘centre stage’ now in the national curriculum as a stand-alone subject and what the geography curriculum, assessment and pedagogy might look like in Australia in the near future is examined. We argue that ICTs will be critical in geographical education as this new era unfolds.
