To date, no studies have investigated the effect of working on-call from home on salivary alpha amylase (sAA) profiles. We aimed to, (1) examine sAA awakening response (AAR) and diurnal sAA profiles in on-call from home fire and emergency service workers following a night on-call with a call (NIGHT-CALL), a night on-call without a call (NO-CALL) and an off-call night (OFF-CALL), and (2) explore whether diurnal sAA differed in anticipation of on-call from home (ON) compared to off-call (OFF).
