The development of the Mohawk College–McMaster University Medical Radiation Sciences (MRSc) diploma/degree program was in process for approximately 10 years. In the fall of 1999, a Mohawk-McMaster steering committee was charged with the task of developing a program model for a collaborative college-university undergraduate program in medical radiation sciences. The model provided a platform on which to base growth, particularly to allow for the addition of future undergraduate specializations in medical radiation sciences, such as radiation therapy, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and nuclear medicine.
