Corporate governance in Vietnam - its significance and challenges

journal contribution
posted on 2020-04-07, 00:00 authored by Olasupo Owoeye, M van der Pijl
The paper examines the corporate governance challenge in Vietnam. It provides a general discussion on the nature and importance of corporate governance. The existing structures for corporate governance in Vietnam are discussed and the major challenges associated with the Vietnamese corporate governance regime are highlighted. The paper notes that whilst the recent legislations and measures being taken to improve corporate governance practices in Vietnam are good steps in the right direction, much more would have to be done in ensuring adherence to the highest standards of corporate governance practices and this would inexorably require strengthening the administrative framework for corporate governance reforms.
