Caregiving for a family member with a chronic and/or major illness is held as an obligation in many cultures (Kristanti et al., 2019). In addition, in developing countries, where professional and clinical services are limited and mental health services are not well resourced, family caregiving is viewed as crucial and may be the only means by which a family member with an illness such as schizophrenia, will be supported.
