Analysis and applications of the 1981 census: Report of a conference held at Tapton Hall, University of Sheffield, 20-22 September 1984
A joint meeting of the Population Geography Study Group of the IBG, the Regional Science Association, and the British Society for Population Studies brought together over fifty geographers, regional scientists, planners and representatives of central government to consider the analysis and applications of the 1981 Census. Technical problems of analysis and graphical presentation were considered, as well as substantive discussion of national and regional change. The linkage of census data with other data sources formed a major conference theme. The smooth organisation of an effective and coherent whole was managed by Robert Woods (Sheffield) and Peter Brown (Civic Design, Liverpool).
