The goal of this PhD project is the documentation of the Tiang language of New Ireland, Papua New Guinea, based on personal field notes, recorded stories, conversations and other oral texts collected in the field. The language data were analysed within the framework of Basic Linguistic Theory. The outcome is a PhD thesis in the form of a comprehensive grammar of Tiang based on this analysis.
