Central Queensland University (CQU) has a joint-venture partnership with C_Management Services Pty Ltd (C_MS) to deliver CQU courses at four sites called Australian International Campuses (AIC). These campuses are located in Brisbane, Gold Coast, Melbourne and Sydney. Currently, the total number of international students enrolled is in excess of 9,000. The number of academic staff involved exceeds 480. CQU has won Queensland and national awards for its programs. The most recent award was: 2005 Australian Export Awards Winner, Australian Education International, Education Award. The academic staff are encouraged to participate in Professional Development Seminars which are held during the year. A seminar series is to be held in June, 2006. Each program will last for one day. The focus for each will be similar. One seminar will be held at Gold Coast/Brisbane, one in Sydney and one in Melbourne. The format for the Academic Professional Development Seminar will include presentations from:•Senior C_MS staff•Senior CQU staff •A leading individual from the campus•A leading course team from the campus. A set of selected readings will be provided to participants, prior to the seminar occurring. Subsequently, there will be facilitated group work by participating academics, within discipline areas. The task will be to draft guidelines for attempting to encourage more active learning by our students. Such will be related to recommendations about on-going teaching methods. Following the Seminar series, a set of guidelines will be produced and distributed to all academics with view to implementation. The processes, procedures and outcomes will form the basis for the proposed presentation at the ISANA National Conference in Sydney, titled: This is how we do it!
