posted on 2017-12-06, 00:00authored byMichael Muchiri
This conceptual paper reviews extant literature on leadership and career anchors within the context of Indonesia. Based on the literature review the paper proposes a theoretical framework useful in explaining the interplay between leadership, employees’ career anchors and organisational effectiveness. Further, the paper puts forwards some propositions regarding the important role that leadership would play in shaping employees’ career anchors within the Indonesian public sector context, and how the leadership-career anchor relationship may influence organisational effectiveness. Finally, the paper outlines some steps to advance our understanding of leadership and career anchors in Indonesia.
