The power of the partner in promoting lifelong learning : the perspective of the mature-age student

This paper examines and contests the notion of power, both positive and negative, generated by two types of partners in relation to mature-age, lifelong learners: family members and close friends from the community outside the university or tertiary institution; and more recently acquired partners from within the learning community.
