This study offers a comprehensive synthesis of the literature on supply chain collaboration published between 2008 and 2021. After an iterative cycle of identifying relevant search terms and searching the literature, we retrieve a sample of 147 papers from 43 journals. The findings uncover the intellectual structure of the past research on various forms of collaboration, critical barriers and enablers, mediators and moderators, context of studies, methodological perspectives and underpinning theories of supply chain collaboration. Finally, we discuss the potential avenues for future research in the area. While there have been some partial reviews of supply chain collaboration in the past, this is one of the first comprehensive review to examine how well the corpus of knowledge and trends on the topic has been evolved over time.
