The university environment of today must be matched with the workplace environment to produce jobready graduates. The researchers conducted a trial to present students with an opportunity for deep learning, rather than surface learning, and access to generic skills. The keys for success were (a) the positive approach by academics offering the program, (b) indirect links to workload, and (c) encouraging student ownership.
