Monitoring multiple span bridges with wavelet approach.

conference contribution
posted on 2017-12-06, 00:00 authored by Shengxiang Jia, Manicka Dhanasekar
This paper presents a wavelet approach for monitoring multiple span bridges. In order to validate the proposed approach, FEA model is developed to simulate the dynamic responses of a two span bridge beam with notch damage under moving loads. Wavelet local energy average concept is then employed to analyse the vertical acceleration of one single point of the bridge beam. The analysis of the numerical simulation results demonstrate that the approach proposed in this paper can be an effective and convenient method for bridge damage monitoring.
