The current paper summarises four models of online delivery described in (Roberts, Jones and Romm, 2000) - the naive model, the standard model, the evolutionary model, and the radical model - expands on the advantages and disadvantages of each approach, and recommends the circumstances under which each should be considered as the preferred model. It then proceeds to relate each of these four examples of current practice to underlying theory, in terms of the three types of learner interaction - learner-content, learner-instructor, and learner-learner - described by Moore (1996).
