Summary: Twelve sunflower varieties were assessed for seed yields and oil content. Yields of Peredovik 6296, Bulgiarian C1957, Armavir 1646 and Vniimk 6540 were comparable with the commercial birdseed variety, Polestar, but they had far higher oil percentages (c. 4 percent) ( cf 27 percent).
