Heuristic methods for locating emergency facilities

This paper proposes three new heuristics to locate Emergency Facilities. These heuristics based on the p-median problem are tested on 400 uniformly generated problems. The new heuristics show that the heuristics perform well in terms of quality of solution and computational time. Our best heuristic is compared with the well known existing p-median heuristics. Better solutions are achieved in most cases.
