© 2018 IEEE. This paper presents the impact of dynamics within the wind farm on low-frequency oscillatory stability of power systems. The aggregated dynamic model of squirrel cage induction generator (SCIG) based wind farm is used in this paper to examine the contribution from wind energy conversion system on low-frequency oscillation. The characteristics of the oscillatory modes are presented using the modal analysis for the given operating condition. Finally, a detailed wind farm model consisting of actual number of wind generators is used in simulation to capture all the possible modes within the wind farm. The analysis conducted in this paper reveals the importance of using detailed wind farm model in low-frequency oscillatory stability studies.
