The data collected is known as performance data and, while not replacing track recording measurements, is often used to improve maintenance management. Usingsimulation and standard track irregularity data various methods of obtaining performance data are reviewed, namely; (i) Axle box force measurement, (ii) Axle box acceleration measurement, (iii) Spring nest defection measurement, and (iv) Wagon body acceleration measurement.
