This paper formulates the urban water services’ sustainability performance evaluation problem as a multicriteria group decision making problem and presents a new multicriteria group decision making approach for effectively evaluating the sustainability performance of urban water services. To model the subjectiveness and imprecision of the decision making process, interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy numbers are used. An interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy weighting averaging operator is used for aggregating fuzzy information. A distance-based knowledge measure is applied for obtaining positive and negative interval-valued knowledge measure values on which the final decision can be made. An example is presented for demonstrating the applicability of the approach for dealing with urban water services’ sustainability performance evaluation problems.
