Diffusing the obsession : a strategy for widening the focus of interest of adult learners

Adult returners to higher education often define themselves through a specific discipline, the restrictiveness of which can be a barrier to learning. The science tract of a new degree designed for adult returners, through a 'cantilevered' structure and a key compulsory interdisciplinary module, seeks to remove this barrier.
