Many of Australia's sugar factories use railway systems to transport cane from the field to the factory. The efficient operation of these transport systems relies on the development, and subsequent control, of daily transport schedules. An integrated suite of computer tools has been developed to assist transport officers with this process. The suite includes tools to automatically generate schedules, check and animate schedules and to control the daily transport operations. Together, they provide a powerful tool to assist transport officers with all aspects of schedule planning and operation.
