Many coastal tourism destinations have expressed concerns about the future impact of climate change. This study evaluates public sector and community views on collaborative planning strategies designed to maintain social sustainability as an element of its long-term destination planning. This study used a qualitative approach, adopting a constructive paradigm based on interviews with community members. The majority of respondents were supportive of employing collaborative planning as a strategy to move forward to achieve social sustainability despite threats such as climate change.
