The Industrial Court of Queensland is a superior court of record and has jurisdiction to hear matters under various pieces of state-based legislation which provide that the jurisdiction of the court is final. Notwithstanding this statutory statement of finality, judicial review of the Court’s decision is available. This paper examines the final jurisdiction of the Industrial Court of Queensland through a discussion of recent decisions which have challenged the finality of the Court’s jurisdiction.
